What is Parent Mentoring?
The Parent Mentor Program is designed to empower parents with skills for successful parenting. The program provides weekly home visitation services to families who need practical solutions for parenting and managing family life. Through the program, families receive the education, training, and support needed to raise successful, productive, and healthy children.
Who is Eligible?
The mentoring program is a free and voluntary program available to parents who have at least one child age under the age 12 and live in DuPage County.
How can Mentor Services Assist You?
Our professionally trained volunteers provide weekly one-on-one supportive services to help parents:
- increase their knowledge about child development and parenting
- strengthen their relationship with their child(ren)
- develop skills for managing stress,
- build supportive social networks
- increase awareness of and access to community resources

Parent Education Classes
Effective parenting is one of the most difficult challenges we face. Given proper tools and techniques, it can also be the most rewarding experience. Our Parent Education program is designed to help parents acquire and internalize the parenting and problem-solving skills necessary to create a more positive and respectful family environment.
Becoming a Love & Logic Parent
3 or 5 Week Parenting Series
This 5-part parenting series incorporates the researched based "Becoming a Love & Logic Parent" curriculum that teaches parents the love and logic philosophy for raising healthy and responsible kids. The workshop is designed to teach parents simple and practical techniques that can reduce stress and eliminate the arguments often associated with child discipline. Through the workshop, parents will develop more appropriate expectations of their children, learn how to teach children with empathy and nurturance, and how to respond to and effectively manage their child's behavior. Parents will also learn how to provide opportunities for children to grow through mistakes and to learn from the consequences of their choices. Check back for upcoming dates for this course
Setting Limits and Carrying Out Consequences
2 Hour Workshop
Do your kids repeatedly ignore or refuse your requests for proper behavior? Would you like to say goodbye to lectures, threats, punishments, and persuasion and improve the way you communicate and set limits with your children? In this 2 hour workshop, you will learn the methods you need to manage misbehavior and to set boundaries in the clearest, most understandable way.
