The Naperville Firkin Fest is a benefit for Project HELP

This festival by BrewFest Partners and Project HELP will include 30+ one-of-a-kind firkin’s from breweries around Illinois and the Midwest. Rare, unique, and small batch brews you can’t anywhere else from some of your favorite breweries (and some new ones too).

What’s a firkin? A firkin is a cask-conditioned beer that is both unfiltered and unpasteurized, served directly from the cask with no additional nitrogen or carbon dioxide pressure. Beer served in this manner is also known as “real ale”.

Breweries from throughout the Midwest gather to share a cask of something special made to be poured from a traditional Firkin Cask. This style of beer is called real ale, and if you have never tried one you are in for a treat. Each brewery will make a special firkin, some with inventive ingredients, others in a more traditional English Style. Cask ale conditions in the casks itself and has no artificial carbonation and is dispensed with a gravity spout. Air is allowed into the cask giving the ales more richness and complexity.
